Calm Under Par is a golf mindset app. You log what happened in your head during a round, and it shows you the patterns. This explains exactly what we hold, where it lives, and what you can do about it.

We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, ask us — the contact details are at the bottom.

Who can have an account

You must be 16 or over to hold an account.

Younger golfers are welcome to use Calm Under Par — on a parent or guardian’s account. The adult owns the account, the email address and the data; the young golfer logs their rounds on it. We do not create accounts for under-16s and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from them.

If you believe a child under 16 has created their own account, contact us and we will remove it.

What we collect

Your account

  • Your email address. This is how you sign in and the only way we identify you.
  • Nothing else. We do not ask for your name, your age beyond confirming you are 16 or over, your gender, your handicap, or your address.

What you log about your golf

  • The course name you type in, the date, whether it was 9 or 18 holes, and whether it was practice, a qualifying round or a tournament.
  • Your score, par and penalty strokes for each hole.
  • For each shot, the mindset code you choose — Mindful, Focus, Routine or Emotion — and which type of shot it was. Plus one walking mindset per hole.
  • Round Context: up to 22 short answers about the round — how you slept, whether you arrived rushed, your warm-up, how you felt on the first tee, and afterwards the weather, the pace of play, who you played with and what was going on around you. Each is a choice from a short list rather than free text, except the single note field, where you can write whatever you like.
  • Figures we calculate from the above: your Mindset and Growth Indexes, your Flow and Recovery, and your Personal Bests.

Technical information

  • Crash reports, through a service called Sentry, when something in the app goes wrong. These contain what broke and on which version of the app — not who you are. We have deliberately turned off the option that would attach your identity, and we never send your account details with them.

What we do not collect

We want to be specific rather than vague, because these are the things people reasonably worry about.

  • Your location. The app contains no location or GPS code at all. It does not know which course you are standing on — you type the name in.
  • Advertising or tracking. There are no advertising networks and no analytics services in the app. Nobody is profiling you, and we do not sell or share anything for advertising.
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone or health data.
  • Payment details. Calm Under Par does not take payments today. If that changes, card details will be handled by the payment provider and will not touch our servers.

Where your data is kept

  • On your phone first. Calm Under Par works with no signal, because your round is saved on your own device as you play. It syncs when you are back online.
  • On our servers, run by Supabase on Amazon Web Services in Montreal, Canada. If you are outside Canada, your information is transferred there.
  • Crash reports are held by Sentry in the United States.

Who we share it with

Nobody.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not give it to other players, coaches or parents. Your account sees your rounds and nothing else.

The only companies that process any of it are the ones running the service for us — Supabase (the database), Sentry (crash reports) and Expo (app updates) — and they may only act on our instructions.

Showing what the app does

We use anonymised examples to show how Calm Under Par works. A chart of ten rounds, a Mindset Index climbing across a season, the shape of where someone’s attention went. These carry no name, no email address and nothing that identifies who played them — and we do not attach your golf to you anywhere we publish it.

Anything that identifies you needs your permission, asked for separately. If we ever want to use your name, your club, or a screenshot of your own rounds, we will ask you directly and you can say no. Saying no changes nothing about your account. We will not treat using the app as agreement to appear in anything.

Deleting your account removes your data, as described below. Anonymised examples already published cannot be traced back to you and are not removed — once a chart with no name on it is in a brochure or on a website, it is out of our hands. That is the honest limit of what deletion can reach, and it is the reason we keep published examples anonymous by default.

How long we keep it

While you have an account, we keep your rounds. All of them. The point of Calm Under Par is the pattern across seasons, so we do not age your golf out from under you.

When you delete your account, we delete your data. We hold it for 30 days first, in case you change your mind — signing in again during that time brings everything back exactly as it was. After 30 days your account and every round are permanently deleted. They may remain in our encrypted backups for up to a further 30 days before those backups roll over, and then they are gone.

If you would rather it went immediately, say so — email us and we will delete everything at once, without the 30-day wait.

Your choices

  • See your data. All of it is in the app, on your Rounds and Trends tabs.
  • Correct it. A round can be edited for 24 hours after you finish it.
  • Delete a round. Swipe it away; it goes to a Trash you can restore from.
  • Delete your account and everything in it. In the app: Logger → Account → Delete account.
  • Ask us for a copy. Email us and we will send you your data.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights — to object, to restrict processing, or to complain to a data protection regulator.

Children

Calm Under Par is not designed for or directed at children. It is a golf performance tool for golfers, and it is rated for a general audience. Accounts are held by adults and older teens (16+); younger golfers play on a parent’s account, as described above.
