Personal Mindset Performance Coaching
The mindset behind the score.
The mental side of golf is the part nobody measures. Calm Under Par asks for one entry per shot — a habit of reflection that builds on its own — and turns those entries into a picture of the player’s mindset, round by round. It works alongside existing coaching, not instead of it, and gives coaches something concrete to work from.
For juniors, high-school and college players, and amateurs of any age. It works with the coach you already have, not around them.
More than the swing
At the top of the game it is often said golf becomes 90% mental and 10% physical. Not because the swing stops mattering — because at that level everyone can hit the shot. What separates them is the few seconds either side of it.
The same holds further down, and it is where most amateurs spend almost nothing. They train the part they can already do and leave the part that decides the score untouched. That gap is where the biggest improvements hide.
So ask yourself: how much of your practice goes below the surface?
Pick the one closest to your last month.
Calm Under Par is how you close the gap: one code per shot, and a picture of your mindset after every round and over time.
Four codes, one per shot
Every shot gets one code: the positive one, or whichever of the three describes how it slipped. That is the difference between knowing something went wrong and knowing what went wrong — and only the second one tells you what to practise.
- Mindful Presence
A calm, committed shot. Full routine, a clear target, and you accepted the outcome.
- Focus Discipline
Attention slipped — to the score, the trouble, the last hole. Anything but this shot.
- Routine Adherence
The pre-shot or post-shot routine was skipped or rushed.
- Emotional Regulation
Frustration, anger, nerves or doubt got in the way of the shot.
Be honest — it is the one rule that makes everything else work. An honest card is the fastest way to real improvement.
Logging a round
A few taps a hole, in the Calm Under Par app on your phone. Read the tutorials →
The app carries the full guide with it, so you never need this page on the course: open Account → Player user guide for the whole thing, offline.
- 1
Before the round
Pick 9 or 18 holes and which hole you start from, then answer four quick questions — sleep, how the arrival went, the warm-up, and how your mindset feels on the tee. Ten more are optional.
- 2
One hole at a time
Par, score and any penalty, then a code for each shot across tee, approach, short game and putting — plus one for the walk. A live check tells you when the hole balances.
- 3
Finish, and read it
Your results are there the moment you press Finish. Nothing to wait for, nothing to send.
Works with no signal
Every entry is saved on the phone as you go and sends itself when you are back online. A round is never lost.
Nothing to add up
The app checks the hole balances before you can move on, so mistakes are caught on the spot rather than at the end.
Built to be usable
One-handed, thumb-friendly, and held to the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard.
What you get back
All of it in the app, the moment you finish.
- One Mindset Index, every round
- How mindful you were across every shot, out of 100 — with Flow and Recovery beside it. Flow: after a mindful shot, whether the next was mindful too. Recovery: after a lapse, whether the very next shot was. Each is set against what your Mindset alone would be expected to give.
- Your top opportunities
- The shot type costing you most, and the stretch of the round where it slipped hardest — each marked High, Medium or Low.
- Where it actually went
- Broken down by shot type, by par 3, 4 and 5, front nine against back nine, the start against the finish, the walk — and which of Focus, Routine or Emotion did the damage.
- Whether it is working
- From five rounds, Trends opens: your Mindset Index and Growth Index side by side, whether your Flow and Recovery run above or below expected, how evenly you play around your Mindset, Personal Bests, and insights that only appear once there is enough to say them honestly.
- What the round was really like
- Rounds you played on poor sleep or after a rushed arrival, set against the ones you did not — so a bad round can be read properly instead of just being a bad round.
One clear picture of the mental game — so progress is something you can point at rather than something you hope for.
