Reading one round

The moment you finish, the round is broken down for you. Here is what each part is asking, and which parts are worth your time.

Your Mindset Index, out of 100

Every round produces one score out of 100, built from the codes you logged:

One number, with Flow and Recovery beside it.
  • Mindset Index (M.I.) — how much of the round you played present. This is the headline number.
  • Flow — after a mindful shot, how often the next one was mindful too. Did you keep it going?
  • Recovery — after a lapse, how often the very next shot was mindful. Did one bad shot stay one bad shot?

Flow and Recovery are not indexes of their own. Each is set against what that round’s Mindset alone would be expected to give, and the arrows on the tile say whether you were above (▲), below (▼) or level (=) with it. Tap the tile to see the figures.

Where it actually went

The round is taken apart in the ways that let you act on it — by shot type, by hole type, by the two nines, start & finish, walking, hole by hole and where mindset slips occur. Each view shows where your presence held and where it did not, and you can drill down for more detail.

One round, split four ways. Putting held; the approach play is where it went.

Alongside it, the app names your top opportunities for the round: a shot type and a stretch of the round, each marked High, Medium or Low.

What the round was really like

The conditions you logged before teeing off are shown back to you with the round, so the score has its context attached. The Trends page lines these up against how present you were.

A 79 in a gale after four hours’ sleep is not the same round as a 79 on a calm morning, and six months later you will not remember which was which.

How to use it

Look at one thing. Every round tells you a great deal — pick the part that stood out most and take it into your next round. What repeats across your rounds is where the lasting gains are.

A round is a sample. One round where your putting presence dropped is a bad afternoon; the same thing across ten rounds is something to work on. That is what the Trends tab is for, and it is why it waits until you have five rounds before it says anything at all.
